Look like a Superhero Employer!

In a time when so much is uncertain, effective leadership, especially in regards to employee benefits, is paramount.

Employees are rightfully anxious about their health, their loved ones, the economy, job security and what the future holds. Because of this, employers and managers have had to educate themselves on the steps they can take to ensure the health and wellbeing of their employees.

As an on-demand health company, we’ve been blown away by the resilience of small business owners and their employees. Here are three major takeaways that we’ve learned on the job, for how to keep your employees healthy and happy.

  1. Now more than ever, it’s important to encourage employees to remain physically active. Exercising daily reduces symptoms of depression, anxiety and has significant benefits for heart health. Employers that communicate the importance of exercise and make space for daily physical activity are able to foster healthier routines that enhance the critical thinking, learning and judgement skills of their employees.
  2. Taking intermittent breaks between digital meetings is extremely beneficial for mental and physical health. By scheduling blocks of 5-10 minutes in between meetings to look away from the screen, you can significantly reduce your chances of burnout. While some see taking excess breaks as unproductive, employee wellness shouldn’t be considered an expendable luxury, but rather a vital investment that will benefit an organization and its workforce in the long run.
  3. Finally, partnering with a convenient and affordable health care benefit can provide employers a full range of cost-effective solutions to meet the challenge of keeping a workforce healthy, while controlling benefit costs. We’ve found that offering cost-effective benefits packages with high quality health care providers helps ensure employees are getting preventive care, and staying healthy.
