Kim Cassens, owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes and board member of the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce, wants you to “Be Empowered. Be Proactive. Be Pink in October!” Kim is also a Park Nicollet Board Member and Co-Chair of the Be Pink fundraiser, so we sat down with her to learn more about why she is passionate about Be Pink.
Q: What is your connection to Be Pink and what does it mean to you?
A: I have several family members and friends that have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, so early detection & diagnostics are so very important.
Q: What role do you serve with the BE PINK campaign and how long have you been involved?
A: I am a Park Nicollet Board Member & Co-Chair of the Be Pink fundraiser. I have been volunteering with them for 6 years.
Q: Why did you get involved with Be Pink?
A: The Be Pink fundraising campaign directly raises funds for women in our community to allow them the mammography, diagnostic services, follow up care and assistance that they may otherwise go without. My mission is to give back to our community and having a store allows me to do so on a greater scale.
Q: How is Nothing Bundt Cakes supporting Be Pink?
A: Nothing Bundt Cakes Minnetonka is donating $1.00 for every 8” or 10” cake purchased in the month of October. I am also doing an event with Evereve Wayzata on Thursday October 7th where 15% of all sales in-store that mention “Be Pink” will go toward Be Pink.
Q: Is there anything different about this year’s campaign than previous years?
A: This year’s campaign will not have an in-person event or even an online event as in past years. We are focusing on Campaign Sponsorships, Pink Partners & Promotions throughout the month of October. All the information is on the website and below.
Be Empowered. Be Proactive. Be Pink in October!
You’ve probably seen the pink trucks, but might not have realized the lifesaving work they were doing.
With Be Pink, Park Nicollet Foundation raises support for the Park Nicollet Jane Brattain Breast Center Mammo a-go-go Community Outreach Program. We partner with local nonprofits and community groups to bring no-fee mammogram screening and breast health education into the community via our mobile mammography trucks. No-fee diagnostic follow-up is also provided as well as interpreter services and supports.
Your support helps thousands of local women in need. Mammograms detect breast cancer at its earliest stages, when it is most treatable.
Visit parknicollet/com/GiveBePink for a list of our Pink Partners. Visiting a Pink Partner in the month of October will not only support our local businesses but it will GIVE BACK to Be Pink!
