Nkeiru Okoye: Voices Shouting Out

Join us as we CELEBRATE our first concert of the season, and new beginnings with Music Director Hannah Schendel. Nkeiru Okoye is a female, African American composer who wrote this piece in response to 911 as a celebration of our lives and as a voice of affirmation, and a reflection of a determination to move ahead in confidence and in unity as people. Dvorak’s Scherzo capriccioso is a very challenging piece, complete with many dazzling moments and features our impressive horn section. Finally, Beethoven's 7th encompasses all the emotions, complete with ebullient energy, contrasted by the timeless beauty of the slow movement. Come and join the celebration!
