Wayzata Sailing
Organizations
The Wayzata Community Sailing Center offers the finest small boat sailing in Minnesota. The WCSC is also one of the largest community sailing centers in the Midwest and serves the entire Twin Cites area metro area. Located just west of Minneapolis in Wayzata, Minnesota, the WCSC is only four minutes from Interstates 494 and 394. The one and a half acre facility is conveniently located on the shore of Lake Minnetonka at the east end of Wayzata’s downtown.
At the Wayzata Community Sailing Center your child will learn to sail in an atmosphere where fun, safety and responsibility are paramount. Youth sailing starts as early as age five with the Kinderpram summer camp program, and continues through high school and college with our youth racing programs. Students make full use of the Sailing Center’s fleet of 8-foot Optimists, 13-foot Olympic class Lasers and 14-ft Club 420 sloops. Adult group and private lessons are taught in international class 22-ft Sonar Sloops.
Our summer camps are a place to play, learn and grow. Sailors from beginner to advance can fine tune their skills in our racing programs. Numerous racing regattas held throughout the season give all our sailors a chance to have fun and test themselves. Many local events are designed to serve beginners who just want to learn more. Other, even larger events, have a regional appeal. WCSC is recognized nationally for the quality of its regattas. Junior and high school sailors travel from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan for our events. Every year our own locally sponsored teams travel regionally to compete in Chicago and Michigan. We also host national level events that draw high school and college laser and 420 sailors from all over the United States.
