A NOTE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Hello Chamber Members, It’s October. I love October! The fall leaves changing, cooler weather, beer (Oktoberfests), pumpkin spice lattes, apples, and of course Halloween. As we say goodbye to September, I hope you were able to experience the 49th Annual James J Hill Days. A big thanks to our wonderful Chamber staff, sponsors, and volunteers who made the weekend fun and the best end of summer festival! Now that it’s October, get ready for Halloween fun for everyone at the annual Boo Bash Dash, a spooktacular race in downtown Wayzata. Run or walk a timed 10k, 5k, 1 mile and enjoy a family-fun run down Lake Street. Costumes encouraged! Enjoy pre- and post-race festivities, like the Pumpkin Derby and trick-or-treating around town during Boo Blast. Learn more and register today!

Join us on October 12 at the Wayzata Country Club for the Chamber’s 2023 Person of the Year Luncheon celebration! We are thrilled to honor Jim McWethy of Sun and Slope for his incredible contributions to the community. Don’t miss this great afternoon with friends and fellow community members. Lastly, we hope to see you at the upcoming Welcome Visit & Ribbon Cutting Celebration for Teehive Custom Apparel on Tuesday, October 17. Teehive is also offering lots of fun & free activities planned from 3- 7 PM, including free Professional Headshots, a station to screenprint your own shirt, appetizers, and door prizes.

On October 1, 2023, there will be two new metro county area sales and use taxes dedicated to housing and transportation. The new Metro Area Sales and Use Tax for Housing rate will be 0.25% and the Metro Area Sales and Use Tax for Transportation rate will be 0.75%.
