A NOTE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR
Happy November Chamber Members,
Since it’s almost time for Thanksgiving, I want to make sure I express some gratitude in my penultimate message as board chair.
First, to this wonderful community: How lucky are we all to live and work in and around Wayzata, Plymouth, Minnetonka, Long Lake, and beyond? As board chair, I see so many new Chamber members join every month which speaks to the dynamism of this business community. As an attorney, I have been blessed to be a part of the beginnings of many of these local businesses.
Second, to the members of the Chamber: the turnout, the buy-in, the consistency, it’s all part of what makes this Chamber unique. So many of our members are decade-plus members. I think that speaks to the long-term value and long-term relationships that the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber fosters. But it doesn’t come out of thin air, the hard work and warm welcome provided by our members are what make the entire endeavor a success. Thank you for helping new members become decade-plus members.
Finally, the staff and my fellow board members: being the board chair in 2022 has been a breeze. I feel like the entire position has been put on a tee. Thanks to the momentum from long-term staff in leadership roles, previous board chairs, board members, and longtime involved Chamber members, the events, programming, and schedule are easy to grasp and easy to jump into. This chamber provides so many opportunities to grow your personal and professional skills, connect with other businesses and community members, and contribute to the vibrancy of this community. All that is required is some hard work and that opt-in mentality. There are plenty of Chamber members who receive benefits just by being on our roster of members. But those who look to join committees, and board positions, and fill volunteer, vendor, and sponsorship spots at events get so much more exposure, experience, and connection to local businesses and people. The ease at which those opportunities can be seized is due to the hard work of the staff and the people who helped build and grow this Chamber.
We have a ribbon cutting for Sota Chiropractic in Medina at November 15 at 4:30. Make sure you don’t miss our 5th Annual Sip, Shop, & Support Holiday Event at Sears Imported Autos, on November 17 from 4-7 pm. This is a great way to connect with retail Chamber members who can provide a holiday gift with a local connection.
Lots to be thankful for this November, hope to see you at a Chamber event this month!
