A NOTE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR
Hello Chamber Members!
I hope you’re all having a great start to winter. I kicked my winter off by contracting all of the hot new sicknesses of the season (thanks kids…). It’s fitting then, that I am prepared to say goodbye. This is my last 511 as Board Chair. In 2023, Kathy Packard, MRA, will step into her role as Chamber Board Chair, and I will no longer be able to subject you all to my attempts at humor. Kathy will bring a wealth of board experience, know-how, and passion for both service and the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber community.
We had our annual board retreat in November and it was nice to connect, reminisce about a successful 2022, and welcome new board members to plan for 2023. I said last month that we have a great team, and I only feel stronger about that!
I plan on spending my December soaking in all that the Chamber has to offer this month. On December 8 at 3pm, Brick + Linen has their business showcase at their Wayzata location. Come enjoy some festive beverages, and see a cool new shop in Wayzata, just in time for the holidays. Next, we have a Ribbon Cutting Celebration at Inspired Athletx at their Plymouth location on December 13, at 4 pm. Finally, I hope to see all of you at the 2022 Holiday Party, December 15, from 4-6 pm. It’s always a great way to cap the year and say goodbye until things kick-off next year.
Thanks to everyone who read these little notes, I enjoyed writing them, and truly enjoyed serving as the Board Chair this year. As I said last month, the skill and dedication of the Chamber Staff, my fellow board members, and the entire Chamber community made it easy.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Chelsea Janke to Vice President, Integrated Marketing. CEL is incredibly fortunate to have Chelsea’s knowledge, insights, organizational skills, and perseverance. For the past 15 years, she has demonstrated her abilities to help clients and CEL move forward amidst challenges with a steadfast commitment to our company mission, “passionately committed to the betterment of business, family and community,” and our core values.
Congrats to our recent Exceptional Service Award recipient, Robbie Shoemaker and Jason Jenkins from Sun Sailor! “Robbie Shoemaker and Jason Jenkins continue to support nonprofits like the Wayzata Rotary Club with advertising and articles on upcoming events through the local Sun Media-Sun Sailor. With this support, the community is aware of local organizations efforts and events to assist with their fundraising. Robbie has also been a valuable Chamber committee member and Ambassador, connecting businesses to the Chamber to assist with the growth of the Chamber and local business. Their willingness to support the community in so many ways is the reason for this nomination.
We are deeply sadden by the loss of our dear friend, David Kottke, who passed away on Tuesday, November 29. We will miss his smile, hugs, creative and musical spirit.
