A NOTE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Hello Chamber Members,

With spring arriving, I am using this letter to thank our members for all of their support and update you all on how far the Chamber has come.

After the success of Chilly Open 2020, nobody knew in the next year and a half, we would cancel dozens of ribbon cuttings, luncheons, and grand community events.

We had reserves in place for unexpected occurrences, like a rainout for James J. Hill Days. And thank goodness for that forethought and stewardship of the staff and previous board members. They didn’t predict a global pandemic, but their planning helped us weather one.

We had close to zero revenue for the Wayzata Art Experience, and James J. Hill Days in 2020. However, revenue from membership dues remained steady with years past and wonderful support from many Member Package Sponsors. We have maintained a strong base of 400+ members and look forward to building our future together. This support is a testament to our members and the value they get from the Wayzata Area Chamber.

In 2021 and beyond, we’ve bounced back.  We were lucky to make the best of it, in converting the 2021 Chilly Open to Cinema & Skates. We had a great Wayzata Art Experience and a fantastic James J. Hill Days, and in person member events were back.  I know Chilly was a smash this February and I can’t wait to keep things rolling this summer.

Thank you to the staff for their consistent hard work through difficult times. Thank you, Wayzata Area Chamber Members, for your continued support.

– AJ Meyer, 2022 Board Chair, Sanford, Pierson, Thone & Strean, PLC
