Congrats to The Bookcase of Wayzata Winner of the Exceptional Service Award of Excellence.

The Chamber, in collaboration with Business & Estate Advisers and the Lakeshore Weekly News, launched the Exceptional Service Award of Excellence in 2009 to recognize and award businesses that demonstrate outstanding customer service.

This quarter the ESA was awarded to The Bookcase of Wayzata. One nominator commented, “Try buying a book in person and see what a great experience it is! It will make your purchase online seem boring. Plus…the staff at the Bookcase are knowledgeable, fun, and local!!! It is truly a great business and a Wayzata treasure!”

Be sure to stop by The Bookcase’s new location in the Village Shoppes at 284 E. Lake Street. Charlie Leonard plans to have the new location up and running the first week of October.

If you know of a business that provides exceptional service, please nominate that business for this award. Click here for the nomination form!

A Significant Change by Ellen Timmerman-Borer

After years of remarkable service, Peggy Douglas has decided to retire from her position at the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce. Peggy has served almost 17 years with 14 of them as chamber president. Beginning in 2013, she will be taking time to travel, enjoy family and friends, and just relax.

Peggy first served as the chamber president from 1992 to 1999 when she was involved in expanding the membership, increasing staff, introducing technology to chamber operations, and making each event a profit center. She returned in 2006 to face a very challenging time when the chamber needed solid leadership. Peggy has advanced the chamber, promoted business, developed exceptional relationships, and has undoubtedly been a prominent influence in the city of Wayzata and surrounding area.

The Executive Committee of the Board will be conducting a search for Peggy’s successor and have a tentative timeline to fill the position by year-end 2012. Peggy has generously offered to provide leadership during the transition. If you are aware of a viable candidate for the position, please e- mail ellen@hammer.org.

On behalf of the Chamber Board of Directors, we are grateful for the opportunity to have served with Peggy and her competent team.
