The Lake Effect Conservancy Announces Executive Director

The Board announces Kathy Coward as Executive Director of the Wayzata Lake Effect Conservancy. She will continue to shape the organization and work closely with the public/private partnership of the Board, City, community and funding partners for the success of the project.

Kathy has held senior management and policy positions at numerous high-profile non-profit organizations for more than 26 years. Her experience is broad including leading a successful capital campaign for Minnesota Public Radio, building and managing philanthropic support and public affairs for a 12- state region of the Trust for Public Land, and working on naturalized shoreline with the Gray’s Bay Lakeshore Restoration. In addition, she has served on various nonprofit boards, has a degree in landscape architecture, and has her own consulting firm. Her clients have included the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, Milkweed Editions, and The Nature Conservancy.

Coward states, “the Lake Effect Park will be a great asset to the quality of life in the community and reconnect Wayzata and its residents to their lakefront. Wayzata has tried for over one hundred years to reclaim its lakefront. This is a unique opportunity to make it happen.”
