Wayzata welcomes bikers!
The Luce Line State Trail is a 63 mile long former railroad grade which is developed for biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and skiing. The limestone surfaced trail runs from Plymouth 30 miles west to Winsted with a parallel treadway for horseback riding. From Winsted to Cosmos the trail has a natural surface with three missing bridges. Visit www.LuceLine.com for more online information on the trail, its history, and other interesting facts. If you are interested in hiking, biking, snow shoeing, horseback riding or snowmobiling on the trail call the DNR Information Center at (612) 296- 6157 or 1-888-MINNDNR.
The 20 mile Dakota Rail Trail begins in Wayzata next to the Wayzata Beach. Spectacular vistas along the route yield gorgeous views of Lake Minnetonka and gently rolling countryside hills. A corridor that once carried freight now offers a wonderful opportunity for transportation and recreational use. The gentle grade is ideal for bicycling, walking, in-line skating and wheelchair use. As you travel west you will experience idyllic scenes—farm fields, wetlands, and lakes before coming to the end of the trail at Mayer.
