Art brings people together whether public art, music, theater, art education or art to enjoy in you home. We have many members who continue to share their creative talents with us from dance studios to the stage. We are grateful for those who ensure a vibrant area for our patrons to gather. Now, more than ever, is the time to empower our youth to explore their artistic potential. This month, we are excited to highlight our local Blue Water Theatre Company, a great resource for kids to experience the joys of acting.
Get involved and support Blue Water Theater!
Looking to experience the local arts scene right here in Wayzata? Look no further than Blue Water Theatre Company, Wayzata’s only live theater!
Started in 2007 as an all-youth (grades 3-12) theater company, Blue Water became a permanent fixture in Wayzata in 2017 after purchasing the historic church on the corner of Rice and Walker Streets. Since then, we have been housing top-notch live theater productions. With the former sanctuary space converted to a theater and a refinished basement rehearsal studio, more than 200 young people annually participate in shows, camps, and classes at Blue Water. Additionally, more than 1000 patrons come through our doors annually to see Blue Water’s talented participants act, sing, dance, write, direct, and create.
Upcoming Auditions, Shows, and Workshops
All are welcome to join us for our 2nd Annual Summer Block Party on Sunday, July 10th, 5-8pm, on the block of Walker Avenue between Wayzata Blvd and Rice Street. The event is the perfect opportunity to get to know Blue Water, and it is FREE and OPEN to ALL, with an outdoor performance stage, food, games, and activities for families to enjoy. Rock Elm Tavern and Tin Fish food trucks will be there, as well as Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. It’s a great opportunity to experience local young talent, meet our directors (including our new Artistic and Managing Directors) and learn more about the programs, opportunities, and future of Blue Water Theatre Company in Wayzata!
Summer is also the perfect time to check out all Blue Water has to offer, from live performances, to theater arts camps, class, and workshops.
If you know a young person who loves being on stage or wants to learn more about the theater arts, spaces are available for our summer camps, classes, and workshops – check out our summer arts education series! Auditions for our 3rd-8th grade summer show, The Wind in the Willows, are taking place July 26 and 27 from 5-8pm and all interested are welcome. More info HERE!
Or, enjoy the talent onstage at our upcoming summer show, We Will Rock You. Performances are July 8- 9, 14-15, and 16 at 7pm and July 10 and 17 at 2pm. Starting in early July, tickets will be available on our website or at the door.
