Oct 24Wayzata Lake Next Steps
Since the adoption of the Lake Effect Framework in March, the City Council has been focused on implementation of the plan. To assist with this work, the Council retained Mary deLaittre of Groundwork: The Foundation for City Building in September to develop an implementation strategy for the Wayzata Lake Effect Plan. Ms. deLaittre previous work includes the RiverFirst project for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board as well as the former Executive Director at the Minneapolis Parks Foundation.
Oct 13Railroad Crossing Replacement at Barry Ave. and Lake St.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) will be replacing the railroad crossing at Barry Avenue South beginning Monday, October 13th. This railroad crossing is located just south of Lake Street, near the Wayzata Depot and the Boatworks building. The railroad crossing will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic as of 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13th, with restoration of the crossing anticipated by late Thursday, October 16th. The City of Wayzata will be responsible for traffic control for the detour. A portable traffic signal system will be utilized to allow access to and from the city beach, marina, 6Smith, Boatworks building tenants, and the Depot via Lake Street to Ferndale Road South to Grove Lane East (see link below of detour map).

The date has been set and everything is in place for the 2014 Lions Lake Minnetonka Crappie Contest for Children Diabetes! This year the event is going to take place on April 26th, 2014 at Bayview Events Center and Bayside Bar and Grill. Some changes are being made from last year but the big one is that all proceeds are going to benefit the American Diabetes Associations Camp Needlepoint where children ages 8 to 17 can go and learn how to manage diabetes.
